Born in Kentucky, Mrs. Graef was married to her husband Bob Graef for 62 years before he died and her family was her first priority. She also loved all animals and was a member of the National Wildlife Federation Backyard Sanctuary. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, opera and bike rides to the beach.
