Greer - Mrs. EMILY GOWAN COTHRAN, 71, of Greer Route 2, died Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Greenville General Hospital after a week's illness. Daughter of the late JOHN and JOAN KING GOWAN, she was born and reared in Spartanburg County. Surviving are: husband, R. L. COTHRAN of Greer Route 2; 4 sons, BROADUS COTHRAN of Campobello Route 2, DENNIS COTHRAN of Detroit, Mich, ROBERT COTHRAN of Spartanburg, and GLOVER COTHRAN of Greer; five daughters, Mrs. GENELL AUSTIN of Tuacapau, Mrs. A. A. FOSTER of Taylors Route 1, MRs. B. G. FOSTER of Gatlinburg, TN, Mrs. TROY KING of Greer Route 2 and Mrs. YANCEY OLIVER of Greer; 2 sisters, Mrs. J. H. COOK of Drayton and Mrs. MAY SIZEMORE of Gastonia, NC; 2 brothers, JOHN GOWAN of Whitney and JESSIE GOWAN of Columbia; 32 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Campobell Methodist Church by the Revs. W. G AREAIL, GUY LAWSON and J. M. BROWN. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be; LEROY COTHRAN, HUGH COTHRAN, EDWARD AUSTIN, NED FOSTER, FRED and ELMORE SHERBERT. Honorary escort will beL MAE REED, DEWEY ARLEDGE, WILLIE BARNETTE, BRYSON BARNETTE, ROBERT KING and BILL REECE. The body will be at the home after 10 a.m. Friday, and will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Petty Funeral Home of Landrum is in charge of arrangements.
