Death occurred in the Jefferson Hotel, San Francisco, where Mrs. Carey resided. The deceased was 81 years of age.
She was at one time prominent in social circles in this city. She was the wife of the late Ransom Smith Carey, well known throughout this section of the country as a railroad builder. He possessed extensive land holdins around Sacramento.
Mrs. Carey has not been a resident of Sacramento for the past ten years, having moved to the Bay City to live with her grandson. She was the victim of a stroke of paralysis, which, added to a weak heart, brought about her demise.
