Age 52. Richard died just before dawn while leaving for work at the Southbridge Dept. of Public Works, when he grabbed the porch railing at his home not realizing it had been electrified by a fallen power line. He had been heading into work to help with cleanup from Tropical Storm Irene. He leaves two children and was expecting his first grandchild. A baby shower was held over the weekend.

Born on October 22, 1958 in Newton, son of the late Victory and Mary Ann (Fiorentino) Gorgone, he was raised in Newton and was a 1977 graduate of Newton North High School. He moved to Southbridge in 1986. He was employed by the Southbridge department of Public Works for the past 13years. Being around his family was most important to Richard. He was eagerly awaiting his first granddaughter. He also enjoyed singing, dancing, country music, and making people laugh. He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast and could always be found in his beloved garage.
