In Memory of
John Gilbert "Gib" Goodwin
November 2, 1930 - March 23, 2015

After a long battle with Parkinson's disease, Gib passed away peacefully on March 23, 2015, at Parkstone Enhanced Care with his beloved family by his side. He was 84. Born in Upper Granville, Annapolis County, to the late Rena (MacDonald) and Ray Goodwin, he was predeceased by his younger brother Rod only three months ago. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Audrie (Barteaux); loving daughters, Susan (Ken) Osbourne, Sandy (Donna Kenney) Goodwin; cherished grandchildren, Haley and Nick Osbourne; steadfast brothers, Bill and Jim; brothers- and sisters-in-law and many cherished nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia and Ontario.

Gib worked with the CBC for many years where he found his niche as props man and Senior Set Decorator. Here he shone bringing the design team's vision into reality, building and creating props such as a talking telephone tree for a locally produced children's show in the early 1970's, to a scaled replica of the local "church-built-in-a-day." He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking and was often found tinkering with a project in his basement workshop. His wisdom, knowledge, and dry wit will be missed. We believe he is now where he can walk straight and tall, talk as much as he wants, and enjoy the best chocolate.

A special thank you to Reverend Helene Burns who stayed with, and comforted Gib and his family, through his final days. Thank you also to the amazing staff at Parkstone, Princess Lane Unit, who took care of him and his family over the past few years, and especially to those who were there for him through his last journey. Arrangements have been entrusted to JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, where visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, from 4-6pm. Funeral Service will be held Sunday, March 29 at 2pm in St. James United Church, Goodwood with Rev. Helene Burns officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Sunrise Cemetery.
