Celestina "Sally" Chávez, was born on January 14, 1925 in San Pedro, NM and passed away after a lengthly illness on January 27, 2001.
Celestina was a member of the San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church for many years.
Celestina was preceded in death by her mother and father, Merejildo and Abelina Gonzáles, her husband, Justo Chávez, daughter, Virginia Chávez Vialpondo, brothers, Uvaldo Gonzáles, Claudio Gonzáles, Gilberto Gonzáles and Moises Gonzáles and sister, Elsie Castillo Cortez.
Celetina is survived by her sons, Larry Chávez, Richard Chávez and Waldo Chávez and his wife, Stella, daughters, Mary (Tonilla) Lucero and her husband, Arthur and Jeanette Sánchez and her husband, Hector, sister, Dora Rodríguez of Whittier, CA, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Celestina will be held on Wednesday at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at San Pedro Cemetery in San Pedro, NM. Pallbearers will be Gary Lee Chávez, Angelo Lucero, Gabriel Chávez, Eloy Vialpando, Anthony Castillo and Al Anzures. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Rosary for Celestina will be recited on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church.
