A Celebration of Life service for Lucile Ebeling will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Hale Center with Rev. Jimmy Cameron officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center.
Violet Lucile Ida Goebel was born on Oct. 15, 1913 in Waco, Texas. She was the daughter of Moritz Roland and Agnes Dietz Goebel. She died on Sept. 28, 2009 at her residence in Plainview, Texas.
Mrs. Ebeling attended school in Waco and graduated from Waco High School in 1931. She graduated from Baylor University in 1935. She married Alfred Edward Ebeling of Round Mountain, Texas on Feb. 22, 1936 in Waco. She then joined her husband on his farm in Cotton Center and later moved to Hale Center in 1982. She was an active member of the Cotton Center United Methodist Church, before moving to Hale Center, where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In 2005, Lucile joined her daughter and son-in-law in their home in Plainview.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Sue and husband Richard Purcell of Plainview; her much loved grandsons, Todd and wife Erin Purcell of Cordova, Tenn. and Justin and wife Kim Purcell of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and two great-grandchildren, Frank Purcell of Cordova, Tenn. and Hailey Jane of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, on May 27, 1985; her daughter, Nancy Jane Ebeling, on June 30, 2006; and her parents and three brothers, Harrington Goebel, Marvin Goebel and Morris Goebel.
