LAKE LURE - Mildred Lois Atkinson, 88, of Lake Lure, NC passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012 at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation in Flat Rock, NC.

She was born in Marion County, SC and was a resident of Lexington, SC and Myrtle Beach, SC. Mildred was a daughter of the late Vincent E. and Eva Lois Godbold and also was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence M. Atkinson; brother, Henry Godbold; sister, Betty Jo Gregg and grandson, Gary McCall.

She was member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Bat Cave, NC. Mildred was employed as a bookkeeper before retiring and enjoyed doing a wide variety of crafts and sewing.

Survivors include her daughters, Constance McCall and her husband Gary of Lake Lure, NC, Lynda Lois Ernest of Columbia, SC and Cheryl Lathrop of Chesterfield, VA; sisters, Lou King of Myrtle Beach, SC and Donna Benton of Greenville, SC; and 5 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at Hillcrest Cemetery Chapel in Conway, SC. Rev. Rusty Benton will be officiating.
