Sergeant, Medical Detachment, 5th Battalion, 20th Engineers, US Army. Son of Homer Garrett Clover and Verde Elizabeth (Shuster) Clover. Entered the service from Massachusetts.

He was aboard the steamship Tuscania, traveling as part of a British convoy and transporting over 2,000 American soldiers bound for Europe. She was torpedoed and sunk off the coast of Ireland by the German submarine U-77. Sgt. Clover and most of the other casualties from the Tuscania were originally interred on the Isle of Islay, Argyll and Bute, Scotland, then re-interred elsewhere after the war.
