Charles Douglas Gilliam

Charles Douglas Gilliam, born June 10, 1927, in Sweetwater, Texas to Dewey and Alma Gilliam, passed from this earth on November 15, 2005.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Charles Ray Gilliam and son-in-law James Valentine. In his early years he ventured the world as a merchant marine and later as a Millwright Worker at various U.S. sites. His greatest accomplishment was at Chrysler Corp. in St. Louis, Missouri where he retired after many years of service.

Charles Gilliam is survived by five daughters and their spouses, Bernice and Ken Hanson of New Caney, Texas, Janice Valentine of Humble, Texas, Mary and Charles Dallas of New Caney, Texas, Ann and Gary Hittle of San Antonio, Texas, Elizabeth Gilliam of Texas City, Texas. He is also survived by 3 grandsons he adopted and raised as his own, David Gilliam, Shane Gilliam and Ray Gilliam, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, nieces and nephews. Sisters, Helen Ruth Gilliam of Texas City, Texas, Lena Mae Hair of Santa Fe, Texas and brother, Dewey Leslie Gilliam of Texas City, Texas.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2005, at Brookside Memorial Park.
