Mary Virginia Gilkerson, 83, of 541 Virginia Ave., Harrisonburg died Sunday morning at Camelot Hall Nursing Home.
Mrs. Gilkerson was born March 19, 1904, at Mount Crawford and was a daughter of the late Charles P. and Lean Dean Burgess.
She has lived in Harrisonburg since 1949 and was employed for 20 years by J.C. Penney Co.
She was a former member of Trinity Reformed Church and attended the Harrisonburg Baptist Church.
On March 3, 1926, she married Ward Hobert Gilkerson, who survives.
Also surviving is a son, Cecil F. Gilkerson of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home by Dr. Thomas Reynolds, Jr. and the Rev. T. W. Johnson, Jr. Burial will be in the Mount Crawford Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Friends also may call at the Cecil Gilkerson home, 507 Paul Street, Harrisonburg.
