Mrs. Amy Amling
Edgewood, Ia. -- Funeral services for Mrs. Amy Amling, 76, were held Friday afternoon in the Edgewood Congregational Church in charge of the pastor, the Rev. W.B.H. O'Neill. He was assisted by the Rev. Robert Watson, of the Manchester Congregational Church. Burial was made in the Edgewood Cemetery.
As Amy Gifford she was born March 19, 1868, the daughter of Daniel and Oroline Smith Gifford, of Edgewood, early settlers in this vicinity.
On January 19, 1895, she was married to Jacob Cooney Amling and to their union one son, Clarence F., was born. They lived in Delaware County and in South Dakota, where they proved up on a claim, and for many years they have been residents of Edgewood, where Mr. Amling had served as mayor and for several terms as justice of the peace, prior to his death on June 18, 1942. Mrs. Amling died Tuesday following a stroke.
Surviving are the son, who is ill in the Veterans' Hospital in Hot Springs, S.D., his wife of Edgewood, with whom Mrs. Amling had made her home for several months, and one brother, Clarence Gifford, of Clear Lake.
Mrs. Amling was a member of the Edgewood Congregational Church.
