Dollie was born on Beaty Creek in Delaware County. Her mother and father are Thomas Jefferson Fields and Alta Barlow Hutchison Fields. She was the fifth of ten children. Her siblings are Roy, Desmond, Bill, Sam, Denver, Ruby, Winona, Callie, and Thelma. She was of Cherokee blood.
Her sister Thelma is still living in Michigan and her brother Bill is still living in Oklahoma.
Dollie married Stanley William George on Dec. 19, 1936. They lived in Delaware and Ottawa Counties, and in Kansas until 1955 when they moved to So. California. When Stanley retired in 1986, they moved back to Fairland, Oklahoma. Stanley passed away February 9, 1990 of cancer at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
Dollie had diabetes and suffered the side effects of it for forty years of her life. She had many strokes because of diabetes. As she reached her older years, her vision became very limited due to the diabetes. After extensive surgeries to her feet due to the diabetes, in April 1998 both of her legs were amputated to the knees. She did pretty well considering her age and the amputations, even going to the Fields Family reunion that June at Lake Eucha. But on the 23rd of June she had her final stroke which took a month to take her. We took her home to Fairland and that next morning she passed away with Dianna and Sandra at her side.
Dollie and Stanley had four daughters:
Janelle Evonne, b. May 1939. Married to Garland Thomas, two children, five grandchildren.
Karen Sue, b. January 1945. Married to Jack Reil, five children, eleven grandchildren and two great grands..
Sandra Kay, b. October 1949. Married to Terry Batts, two children, three grandchildren. Married to Roger Carlisle.
Dianna Elaine, b. June 1953. Married to Chris Batts, two children, two grandchildren.
Dollie Oletta Fields George is my mother, and I miss her dearly.
**I just noticed that my Mother's memorial has been sponsored by Jade and Jenn. I thought I had done it when I sponsored my Fathers but I guess it didn't take. Thank you anyway so very much for doing that. It means a lot and I know that they are both smiling down on you girls. **
