Wilma Gentry Brimer, 81, died March 7, 2004 in Oklahoma City, where she resided since 1948. She was born January 14, 1923 in Mill Grove, MO the daughter of William Lafayette and Amy Fair Gentry. She graduated from Princeton High School, Princeton, MO, attended Maryville State Teachers College, Maryville, MO and graduated from Chillicothe Business College. Wilma taught school two years in the same one room school house where she attended her first 8 years of school. In the 1940's she lived in Kansas City, MO and was the first woman to be employed by the Hertz Corporation. In the 1950's Wilma was involved in the early civil rights sit ins in Oklahoma City. Throughout her life, she volunteered at homeless shelters, hospitals and tutored at her grandchildren's school. She was a compassionate person who cared deeply about not only her family and friends, but all others. She retired after 20 years in the Pathology Department at the OU Health Sciences Center. Her parents preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, James and wife Beth, Midland, TX; daughters, Susan Brimer Loving and husband Dan, OKC and Patricia Brimer Bryant and husband Mike, Bethany, OK; lifelong friend and companion, Dean London, OKC; grandchildren Christine Young, Waco, TX, Amanda Brimer, Ft. Worth, TX, Kristopher Bryant, Bethany, OK, Lindsay Watson, Dallas, TX, Andrew Loving and Kendall Loving, OKC; three great grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Gentry and Danny Gentry, Princeton, MO; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at The First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City, 600 NW 13th. SMITH & KERNKE 14624 N. MAY AVE
