He was the son of Abraham and Rowena Hughes Genter. He was educated in Fayetteville schools.
On April 23, 1902, he married Grace Bell of Wallesville. He operated a farm in the Town of Westmoreland for some time. For the past 40 years he had operated a dairy,farm on the Bush Rd.
Surviving besides his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Milton Hughes, Clinton; Mrs. Kenneth Tuttle, Sauquoit; four sons, Leslie, Whitesboro; Roger, Holland Patent; Kenneth, New Hartford; Roland, Deansboro; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren.
