Antoinette Genovese, 93, former teacher, activist:
Antoinette V. (Ruffo) Genovese, 93, of 40 Montcalm St ., Fairview, a retired teacher at New Rochelle, N.Y., College and a former political activist, died yesterday in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield.

She taught speech, drama and theatrics, and retired many years ago. She later worked as a private tutor.

Born in Marino, Italy, she moved to Palisades Park, N.J., in 1931, and moved to Fairview earlier this year.

She was a former communicant of St . Nicholas Church in Palisades Park, and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She also was one of its lectors for English and Italian services.

She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary and the Golden Agers Club, both of Palisades Park. She was also a communicant of St . Anne's Church in Fairview.

A graduate of Fordham and Columbia Universities, she was a political activist specializing in environmental and religious issues. She was featured several years ago in an article in the New York Sunday News.

Her husband, Joseph Genovese, died in 1977.

She leaves two sisters, Geraldine Tittle of Fairview, with whom she lived, and Mary Ann DeBien of New York City, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Monday morning at Phaneuf-Blais Fairview Funeral Chapels and in St . Anne's Church, with burial in St . Rose Cemetery, South Hadley.
