Florence Ethel (Gehrke) Abram was born on September 28, 1918, in Collins Township, Brownton, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Henry and Amanda (Schimmelpfennig) Gehrke. Florence was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 29, 1931, both by Rev. Kowalski at Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. She received her education in Brownton, Minnesota, graduating with the Brownton High School Class of 1936. On September 22, 1940, Florence was united in marriage to Wesley J. Abram by Rev. Kowalski at Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. Florence and Wesley made their home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Denver, Colorado, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Brownton, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Ken and Mary. Florence and Wesley shared over 60 years of marriage until Wesley passed away on January 21, 2001. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Florence worked at Scrimgeour Pharmacy in Brownton, Minnesota. She was a lifelong member at Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota, where she was a member of WELCA and held the office of Treasurer/Secretary in her earlier years. Florence also was a former member of the church choir and a Sunday school teacher. Florence loved the outdoors, fishing and gardening, mostly flowers. She enjoyed taking long walks which she could speed walk, reading books, playing cards, especially Bridge, baking bread and pies, which she would share with others. Florence was an avid sports fan and would attend her children and grandchildren's sporting events. In her later years, she enjoyed Vikings football and basketball games on television. Florence and her husband spent many winter months in San Diego, California. She treasured the time spent with her friends and family. Florence passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 97 years, 3 months and 13 days. Blessed be her memory. Florence is survived by her: Son, Ken Abram and his wife, Karlene, of Wolcotteville, IN; Daughter, Mary Nelson and her husband, Jim, of Plymouth, MN; Grandchildren, Dawn Condos and her husband, Jim, of Romeoville, IL, Karna Chier and her husband, Dan, of Noblesville, IN, Erin Jensen and her domestic partner, Joe Defilippis, of Helena, MT, Seth Jensen and his wife, Jessica, of Port Angeles, WA; Great Grandchildren, Zachary Young, Jamie Condos, Jack Wesley Condos, Sam Philpott, Allison Philpott, Carley Chier, Vaughn Wirkus, Domonic Defilippis, Mady Defilippis, Lochlyn Jensen; Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and many friends. Florence is preceded in death by her Parents, Henry and Amanda Gehrke; Husband, Wesley J. Abram; Sister, Elsie Sommerdorf; Brother, Glen Gehrke.
