Ruth Gauthier Bergeron, 92, entered into eternal life on Friday, November 30, 2016, at her home with family members at her side. Born on April 15, 1924, from the union of Odessa and Arthur Gauthier of Cottonport, LA.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Normand A. Bergeron, her parents, Odessa and Arthur Gauthier, an infant sister, Lily Marie Gauthier, and a sister, Josephine Seales.

She is survived by six children, N. Philip Bergeron, of New Orleans, Marie Bergeron Weeks (Robert), Thomas L. Bergeron, James P. Bergeron, all of Alexandria, LA, Michael A. Bergeron (Kathy) of Silver Springs, MD, and Ruthie Davis (Bryan) of Alexandria, LA, also 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, three nephews, five nieces, and her sister-in-law, Val Bergeron of New Orleans, LA.

Ruth grew up in Cottonport, LA, where in the summer of 1943, she met Normand Bergeron, the love of her life at Sunday afternoon dance in Cottonport. The two married January 20, 1945, before her husband was assigned Post Dental Surgeon at Camp Earl in Attu, AK during World War II. On his return, they settled in Alexandria, LA to start their family and dental practice.

She was an active member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Court Notre Dame #1452, and received her 45-year pin of service on November 142016. She was a past member of the Women’s Dental Auxiliary of Central Louisiana, VFW and Am-Vets auxiliary organizations.

She worked as a Dental Assistant for her husband starting in 1977 until his retirement in 2000. She was known for the unconditional love of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed family vacations, camping with family and friends, Dental conventions, Catholic Daughter Conventions, Christmas and Mardi Gras in New Orleans and Alexandria, and cooking fabulous meals.

The wake service will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 from 5 PM until 8PM, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM at John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10 AM at Kramer Funeral Home until time to proceed to Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Dan O’Connor officiating.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, LA.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be her four sons, Philip, Thomas, James and Michael Bergeron, and two grandsons, Normand Stewart, and Nicholas Bergeron.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Gray Weeks, III, Paul Henry Bergeron, Robert Paul Bergeron, III, Randy Seales, Jessie Teekell, Dr. Joe A. Ward, Mike Pharis, and Derek McGlothlan.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice, Dr. Bruce Barton, Dr. Robert Freedman, Mary Bush, who brought The Holy Eucharist on a weekly basis, also, Rev. Ray Wells, chaplain with St. Joseph Hospice.
