The information is from "Genealogy of a Branch of the Randall Family, 1666-1879" or actual Connecticut records.
Captain Abel Gates married his first first cousin, Rhoda Gardner, September, 1788, in Colchester, New London Co., Connecticut. Note: Rhoda and Abel's mothers were Randall sisters. They had eleven known children: Electa, John, Thomas, Gardner, Eli, Enos, Lucy, William, Asa, Amander, and David.
Following Rhoda's death in 1821, he married Eunice Huntley, January 6, 1825, Bozrah, New London Co., Connecticut. They had one known daughter, Mary Elizabeth. Eunice died in 1832. There is no record of Abel marrying again before his death in 1850.
