FREDERICK GARRIOTT DIES IN FLORIDA


Son of John Milton and Lydia (McKnight) Garriott. Married Carolyn Ella Dismore on June 24, 1904 at Crothersville, Indiana. Father to Raymond Dismore Garriott.

Frederick A. Garriott, well known auto dealer of Crothersville died March 18th at Leesburg, Florida after an illness of about 24 hours.
He had been spending a well deserved vacation in Florida where he lived in his trailer and was enjoying the sunshine and the fishing. He became ill and a doctor was located after considerable difficulty and he was taken to a hospital. His son Raymond D. Garriott, Crothersville, was notified and flew to his father's bedside. He seemed to be much improved and after a visit with his son, he insisted that Raymond go to the trailer for a rest, saying that he would be alright and would see Raymond in the morning. Raymond left him sitting on the edge of the bed and in good spirits. In less than half an hour, a corrnary occlusion caused his death.
The body was brouth to the Stewart Funeral Home here Friday afternoon, and was taken to the Crothersville Presbyterian church Saturday to lie in state until time for the funeral at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
Burial was in the Crothersville cemetery. The dozens of floral tributes were evidence of the many who knew and admired Mr. Garriott as a friend, civic leader and businessman.
Born at Washington county, Indiana, Auguest 23, 1878, the son of John M. and Lydia McKnight Garriott, he came to the Crothersville community as a young man and had spent many of his 75 years there where he had been in the garage business as a Chevrolet dealer for many years in association with his son, Raymond.
He was a member of the Crothersville Presbyterian church, and was a charter and 25 years member of the Crothersville Lion's Club.
He is survived by his son, Raymond D. Garriott, his wife, Mrs. Ella Dismore Garriott, having died years ago.
