Mrs. Mary Ruth Allen, age 85 of 206 Manning St., Tallapoosa, GA, passed away September 19, 2012.
She was born March 12, 1927 in Tallapoosa to the late James Otis and Dora A. Trimble Garrett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dorsey Allen; a daughter, Margaret Carole Herren; a sister, Eleanor Meunier; and her brother, Lester Garrett.
Mrs. Allen retired as a cashier from Smith's Grocery in Tallapoosa. She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church of Tallapoosa. She loved antiques, crafts, pocketbooks, stuffed animals. She loved and cherished her family. She loved to travel; she particularly enjoyed traveling to Canada, Nova Scotia, Michigan, and Maine.
She is survived by her daughter; two sons and daughters-in-law; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 am from the First United Methodist Church of Tallapoosa with Rev. Jimmy Bryan and Rev. Jason Hatchett officiating. Music will be provided by Harold McWhorter and Megan Hatchett.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 21, 2012, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM.
