Essie was the daughter of Reverend Dan and Essie Character Ellison in LaGrange, Georgia. Her family moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan in her early years. She met and married Johnny Crane on May 30, 1981. She had 2 children, their names as follow: Allyson and Arthur. Her husband had 3 children, their names as followed: Yvelle, Eric and Angelica. She retired from the Veterans Hospital in Michigan and with EECO after thirty-four years in 1995. She leaves to cherish her memory, husband,Johnny Crane, a daughter, Allyson Brown, four stepchildren, Yvelle, Eric, Angelica and Perry, five grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters, seven sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law . Her parents, son, and one grand daughter preceded her death.
