Jennifer met her future husband, Larry, in 1962 when they were 14 years of age at the old Roswell Movie Theater. Jennifer then married Larry, her childhood sweetheart, in March of 1966. Jennifer was first and foremost a devoted mother to her two children, Lisa and Jason, and raised them in Roswell, Georgia. Her children will tell you that she was an avid reader, that she loved taking pictures of her family and did not shy away from placing as many as possible on the walls of her home, that she loved family and extended family get-togethers for any reason at all, that she loved spending time with her grandchildren, and that she had a very quick sense of humor. Jennifer worked for Lucent Technologies, formerly AT&T, in Sandy Springs, GA, until her retirement after 30 years.
Jennifer is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Delga Smith.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Larry Thomas Garrett; two children, daughter and daughter-in-law Lisa and Millie Vandervelden of Stone Mountain, GA; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Shannon Garrett of Roswell, GA; one sister and brother-in-law Jean and Charles Priest of Canton, GA; two brothers and sisters-in-laws, Sanford and Marie Smith of Marietta, GA, and Jerry and Eve Smith of Cumming, GA; four very loved and adored grandchildren: Katelin Price, Kera Price; Jack Garrett, and Bo Garrett, and one great grand-daughter Kendall Swift, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and doctors of St. Joseph’s Hospital for their compassionate care of Jennifer during her last days.
