Funeral services for Ollie "Avenell" Armstrong, 83 of Plainview will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22 at Trinity Life Church with Rev. Steve Martinez officiating. Burial will follow in Ropesville Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Armstrong died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in Lubbock. She was born August 4, 1932 at the Whitfield Community, Texas.

She was leader of The Millennium Singers of Plainview. She received many awards for volunteer work and bible studies at all nursing homes in Plainview. She was also a volunteer Chaplain at Covenant Hospital Plainview. She married J.C. Armstrong, Jr. on February 26, 1950 in Brownfield, Texas.

She is survived by her husband, J.C. Armstrong, Jr. of Plainview; 2 sons, Duane Armstrong and wife Jane of Lubbock and Jon Armstrong and wife Sheila of Sulphur Springs, TX; 1 daughter, Jill Carey and husband Leon of Amarillo.

She is preceded in death by both parents; 2 brothers, J.O. "Hap" Garner and Robert Garner; 2 sisters, Roberta Carter and Cleta Carroll.
