FROSTBURG — Clara Alverta Garlitz Durst, 79, of Frostburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg. Born Jan. 29, 1931, in Gilmore, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Martin and Matilda Ann (Beeman) Rowe. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Patrick Garlitz in 1980 and Wilbert Durst in 1990; and two sisters, Myrtle Rowe and Ruth Ellen Strube. Mrs. Durst was a seamstress for the Flushing Shirt Factory for 28 years, Schwabs for eight years and was also a hall attendant for Frostburg State University. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Jennings, Sacred Heart Hospital Auxiliary and Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union. She is survived by a son, William F. Garlitz and wife, Sharon and a daughter, Robin A. Seifarth and husband, Bob, all of Frostburg; two step-daughters, Mary Ann Green, Fla. and Darlene Rae, Frostburg; a brother, Alexander M. Rowe, Frostburg; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, Grantsville, on Thursday. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the St. Ann Cemetery. Cumberland Times-News, October 21, 2010.
