Donald Paul Garlick, 59, of West Red Oak Court, died at 2:28 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

Mr. Garlick worked at Cummins Engine Company for 20 years and retired March 1 as Director of Global Manufacturing Engineering.

He moved with his wife and first son, John, to the United States in 1980 to work for Froude Dynomometers in Livonia, Michigan and in 1981 his second son, Ben, was born. In 1989 they moved to Columbus where Paul started at Cummins Engine Company.

In 1999, together as a family, they became citizens of the United States.

He attended Worcester Royal Grammar School in Great Britain and received his Engineering Degree from South Hampton University in England.

He was a member and Treasurer of the Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club, a Corvette enthusiast and was active in the Central Middle School Junior Solar Sprint.

He enjoyed playing the guitar and loved animals. Mr. Garlick was a loving husband, father and coworker.

Paul was born Feb. 20, 1950 in Great Malvern Worcestershire, Great Britain, the son of Donald and Jesse Ollis Garlick. He married Eileen M. Wikner Sept. 8, 1973.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with the Rev. Lane Loman officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time Monday. Cremation will follow the service.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the donor's choice of charity, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include his wife; sons John Garlick and Ben Garlick, both of Columbus: a brother Andrew (Jo) Garlick, of London, England and a sister, Deborah Garlick (Malcolm) of Bangor Wales, Great Britain.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
