Obituary: Jefferson City News Tribune, Sunday, April 23, 1995

Nora G. Atwell, 94, Iberia, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Care Center. She was born February 13, 1901, in Iberia, the daughter of Abraham and Sarah Shackleford Gardner. She was married October 15, 1924, in Tuscumbia, to Thomas Jennings Atwell, who died October 25, 1975.

She worked for Dye Candy Company in Kansas City and St. Louis, and for Iberia Manufacturing. She was a member of the former New Light Christian Church near Iberia.

Survivors include one niece, Juanita Novak, Iberia.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Quintin Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
