Alfredo Garcia went to meet his creator on January 31, 2010. A lifelong resident of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, he was born on May 23, 1919 to Gabriel and Elvira Garcia. Alfredo was preceded in death by his father, mother and three brothers, Telesfor Garcia, Roman Garcia and Luis Garcia. Alfredo is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eloisa G. Garcia, special nephew, David Duran, brothers, Luciano and his wife, Annabel, Ermengildo, Abel and his wife, Lucille, Gabriel and his wife, Betty, three sisters, Stella Chavez and her husband, Prospero, Julia Lechuga and Rosalina Garcia and sisters-in-law, Rita Garcia, Julia Garcia, Rebecca Rodriguez and her husband, Fabian, and Virginia Montoya and husband, Elias. Alfredo is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Alfredo was a veteran of World War II who saw combat with the 45th Division in Sicily, Italy, Southern France and Germany. Alfredo retired after many years from Bradbury Stamm Construction. Alfredo was actively involved with the Democratic Party, serving as precinct and ward chairman for over 35 years. Alfredo later served as a Trustee (3/76 through 3/88) and ultimately as Mayor (3/88 through 3/92) for the Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. Alfredo was a lifelong member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and assisted in the remodeling of Mount Carmel Church. Alfredo was also a member of the American Legion Post 69 and the Elks Club. Alfredo also enjoyed hunting, fishing and making wine. Alfredo Garcia was a mentor to many who loved him greatly. Alfredo will be missed by his family, friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Services for Mr. Garcia will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 8:00 a.m. and celebration of the Funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Garcia, Russell Chavez, Gilbert Lechuga, Orlando J. Montoya, Herman Pedroncelli and Tony Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Cordova, Eulogio Sanchez, Manuel Herrera, Bobby Salas and Ernest Barela.
