Mr. George W. "Coot" Galbreath, age 66, of Route 1, Ailey, (Sharpe Spur Community) died Saturday morning in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dublin after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, Mr. Galbreath was a retired farmer, a veteran of World War II, where he served with the 3rd Army. 6th Armored Division, under General George S. Patterson in the Normandy Invasion. He was a recipient of two Purple Heart Awards. Mr. Galbreath was a member of the New Corinth Baptist Church.

Mr. Galbreath is survived by: his wife: Mrs. Low Rita Galbreath of Ailey; two daughters, Miss Dorothy Ann Galbreath and Miss Marlene Galbreath both of Ailey; Four sons: John Edward (Buddy) Galbreath, of Tampa, Fla., Michael Galbreath, of Vidalia, Gary Lee Galbreath and Randy Paul Galbreath, both of Ailey; two sisters: Mrs. Ruth Carey of Augusta, and Mrs. Wilma Jones of Jacksonville, Fla.; six brothers, Robert L. Galbreath, John H. Galbreath, Herbert D. Galbreath, and William Galbreath, all of Ailey, Emmett Galbreath, of Vidalia and Daniel W. Galbreath, of Boron, California; one grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Galbreath were held Sunday afternoon at 4:00 from the New Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. James Young and Rev. Lonnie Hayes officiating. Interment was in the Galbreath Cemetery near Alston. Active pallbearers were: Terry Galbreath, Duane Galbreath, Ronnie Williamson, Allen Douberly, Ronnie Gray and Michael Howard. Honorary pallbearers were: Clarance Sanders, Laymond Cooper, Ed Crabb, Herman Wilkes, Frank Cartrette and S.L. Galbreath.

Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Home of Vidalia, was in charge of the arrangements.
