Ferne was born on Oct. 12, 1928, in Springvale, Maine, the daughter of Albert and Exelia (Lessard) Gagné.
She is survived by her son, Michael Cook and his fiancée, Sharyn Tuttle. She also leaves two sisters, Florence Chasse of Newington, Theresa Blouin of Somersworth and a brother, Richard Gagné of Fort Pierce, Fla., as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Duane Cook, who died in 1995; her parents and a brother, Raymond Gagné.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, where she was a member of the St. Anne Sodality. She was a volunteer at the SHARE Fund, a member of the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary, a member of the Rochester Senior Citizens and she volunteered a lot of her time to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, one of which was with the Bereavement Committee.
Ferne enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Rochester Women's Bowling League, enjoyed cribbage, playing card, and ceramics. She was also an avid Bingo player.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at H. J. Grondin & Son, 177 N. Main St., Rochester.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 189 N. Main St., Rochester with Fr. Paul Gousse, officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Rosary cemetery.
