Born Oct. 10, 1917, Katherine was a lifelong Akron resident and a member of St. Joseph Melkite Catholic Church where she participated in St. Joseph's Senior Citizens. She had worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber for over 32 years, retiring in 1974.
Katherine's life revolved around her family and their happiness at whatever the cost. She spent many years taking care of her grandsons. She also enjoyed dancing at family functions, playing cards, reading books and cooking. She brought kindness, understanding, wisdom, and joy to all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Monsour Karam in 2003; brother, Henry Gable; sister, Elizabeth Schleier; and son-in-law, Ed Whitacre; she is survived by daughter, Paula (Karam) Whitacre of Akron; son, David (Marsha) Karam of Nevis, Minn.; grandchildren, Shawn Whitacre, Steven Whitacre, Andrew Karam, Jacob Karam, and Gabrielle Karam; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at St. Joseph Melkite Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made ot St. Joseph Melkite Catholic Church.
