Brian R. Gabel, 32, of Akron, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Reverend Tanya Sherrill of Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Brian Richard Gabel was born January 16, 1980 in Akron, Iowa, the son of Richard Alan and Sue Carol (Baack) Gabel. Brian was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron and later confirmed at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron. Brian attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron-Westfield High School in 1999. Brian was currently working for Iowa Pilot Cars, traveling throughout the United States.
Brian was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron. Early on, Brian enjoyed wrestling and bowling. He was avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Twins, and the Michigan Wolverines. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. But most of all, he loved the times spent with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
