Ellen ``Toodle'' Caraway, 68, of San Angelo joyfully met her angels that had been watching over her, Saturday, Dec, 19, 1998. God set her free from the earthly chains of a lengthy illness that had bound her. Present to encourage her through this spiritual transformation were her husband, loving children and grandchildren, and a very special dog, Bugsy, who never left her side. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, in Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Toodle was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Stephenville. Toodle became the devoted wife of H.A. Caraway Jr. on April 21, 1952. An extraordinary person, Mom and ``Guinnea,'' as she was know to her grandchildren, was adored by all. Cherishing family above all, she was the epitome of unconditional love. A lover of life, she taught so many valuable lessons that will be carried on through generations. Play with the kids and forget the housework; it will always be there. Eat dessert first, chocolate is a food group, and play Putt-Putt before homework. Lastly, you're never too young to ride a bike. Demonstrating remarkable talent, Toodle was an accomplished painter, writer and poet. Toodle's adventurous spirit led her down many paths. She flew with Continental Airlines as a stewardess, worked as a nurse, and designed and made clothing. She became a police dispatcher and performed accounting duties for businesses in later years. A Christian and Church of Christ,{per family} Toodle read her Bible daily and sought wisdom and humility. A lifetime learner, she absorbed information and coveted knowledge; however, the validity of some of her Scrabble words remains questionable. She loved to laugh. Full of jokes and pranks, her witty, enthusiastic approach to everything made her a joyous person and kept everyone laughing. Due to the contagious spirit of Toodle, there is a little bit of her in all of us. Mom, your little light still shines. She is survived by her husband, H.A. Caraway Jr. of San Angelo; a daughter, Laura Powell and husband, Dyron, of Houston; two sons, Trey Caraway and wife, Polly, of San Angelo and Andy Caraway and wife, Cindi, of Merkel; grandchildren, Dyron Powell Jr. and fiancee, Sharla Kleypas, Treyci Eyster and husband, Joe, Treyla Caraway, Christopher Caraway, Bailey Browder, Kate Caraway and Drew Caraway; a sister, Phine Brownd and husband, Gene; a sister-in-law, Dale Fulfer; numerous nieces and nephews; and ever-watchful Bugsy. The family wishes to thank Shannon Hospital, Family Hospice and the San Angelo Fire Department. Memorials may be sent to Family Hospice and Houston's Texas Children's Urology Department.
