Effie M. Fry, 85, formerly of 2461 Pleasant View Drive, York, died at 5:40 p.m. Saturday at Manor Care Kingston Court, where she lived three years. She was the wife of the late Herbert F. Fry.
The service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wm. J. Workinger Funeral Home Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Fry was born on Feb. 28, 1908, in Spring Garden Township. She was the daughter of the late William H. and Mable K. (Myers) Lightner.
She was a member of Pleasureville United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Fry is survived by seven daughters, Betty Wakefield, Frances Hoffmaster, Grace Beaverson, Mary Wise, Barbara Bowman, all of York, Janet Ferguson, Etters, and Thelma Druck of York Haven; five sons, William Fry of Glen Rock, Herbert Fry Jr. and Carl Fry, both of Dover, Norman Fry of York, and Robert Fry of Kalispell, Mont.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Esther Smith of York.
Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Steven M. Livermore.
