George Maurice "Jack" Frost, 94, of Hagerstown, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at Williamsport Retirement Village in Williamsport, Md.

Born Sept. 15, 1912, in Atlantic City, N.J., he was the son of the late George W. and Elsie Mae (Gladney) Frost. He was the husband of the late Rachial Caroline (Schildknecht) Frost, who died Jan. 13, 1999.

Jack was a graduate of Hagerstown High School class of 1931 and Columbia College.

Jack worked for Statton Furniture Manufacturing Co., and later retired from M.P. Moller Organ Co. with more than 35 years of service as a draftsman. Upon his retirement, Jack worked for Home Federal Savings Bank as a parking lot attendant for several years.

He was a former member of the Alsatia Club of Hagerstown, the Hagerstown Moose and Eagles Club Inc. He was a current member of the Suburban Kiwanis Club, B.P.O.E. Lodge 378 of Hagerstown, the Interstate Coin Club, the Travelers Protective Association and Musicians Union 770, where he served in numerous positions since 1933, including president.

In 1930, he started the Jack Frost Orchestra, which was one of the first bands to play at Pen Mar Park, and later was renamed Jack Frost and the Cosmopolitans. Jack played both the drums and the banjo for many years. He was an avid post card collector and dealer.

Jack is survived by:
one son,
Ronald G. Frost and wife, Marilyn, of Hagerstown;
one grandson,
Douglas G. Frost and wife, Teresa, of Hagerstown;
one granddaughter,
Debra M. Garvin and her fiance, Dale Howard, of Lindenwold, N.J.; and
one great-granddaughter,
Heather Nicole Frost of Hagerstown.

In addition to his wife,
he was preceded in death by
a close friend, M. Elaine Frank,
who died in June 2006.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Joy Zepp will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742 or National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maryland Chapter, 5401 Belair Road, Baltimore, MD 21206.

Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Bryan K. Kenworthy P.A., 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
