Ewald August Froemming, was born in Leaf Valley Township, Douglas County, on February 12, 1892, the son of Herman and Amelia Froemming. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith, at the Ebenezer Church, Leaf Valley, where he attended school and grew to manhood.
On June 26, 1916, he was united in marriage to Helena Wieczorek at Little Falls, Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Froemming continued to farm in the Leaf Valley area until 1924, when they moved to Alexandria, where he was employed. In 1933 he purchased his own beverage business, which he operated until his retirement two years ago.
He passed away at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, July 30, 1972, at the age of 80 years. Surviving are his wife, Helena; three daughters: Florence (Mrs. Guy Graham) of Livermore, California; June (Mrs. Leo Paradis) of Ocean Side, California; Ardell (Mrs. Joseph Gould) of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one brother, Ben of Alexandria and one sister, Mrs. Gust Ketter, of Parkers Prairie. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Eleanora and one brother, Robert.
Funeral services were held August 3, 1972 at Zion Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Minn. Rev. K. K. Hill, officiating. Pallbearers were Charles H. Laumann, Eugene Froemming, Russell Froemming, Melvin Froemming, Bernard Wieczorek, Jr., James T. Laum. Interment was at Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, Minnesota.
