Dr. David Gordon Friedman, 65, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014. He was a graduate of The University of Tennessee Knoxville and Southern College of Optometry, where he had also taught. He specialized in vision therapy for children, and the techniques he developed improved the eyesight of hundreds of Memphis children. He was predeceased by his wife Virginia "Gini" Friedman, his father Harold "Buddy" Friedman, and his brother Robert M. Friedman. He is survived by his mother Margaret Friedman and his sister-in-law Elaine Friedman, both of Memphis, his stepson Brad Epstein of Atlanta, and his nephews Daniel Friedman and Jonathan Friedman (Rachel) of New York City. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 16 at the Sam Abraham Chapel in Baron Hirsch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Chabad, Memphis Jewish Community Center, or the Baron Hirsch Synagogue.
