MALONE AREA FARMER DIES AT AGE OF 72
EDWARD M. FREUND; ST. MARY’S CHURCH SERVICES PLANNED
Edward M. Freund, 72, a former resident of 280 E. Cotton St., now residing at the Villa Loretta Mount Calvary, died at 1:30 a.m. today at the nursing home following a six-month illness.
Mr. Freund was born June 27, 1893, in Malone, the son of Nick and Anna Marie Rieder Freund. He married Lorraine Buechel June 18k 1919, at St. Mary’s Church, city. He had farmed in the Malone area his entire life, retiring in 1960. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Holy Name Society.
Survivors include five sons, Leander, Paul, Donald, Jerome and James, all of the city; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph Freund, city; 21 grandchildren; a brother, Ambrose, Route 3; and two sisters, Mrs. Gregor Schmitz and Mrs. Matt Konen, city. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1963 and one sister.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the Zacherl Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry A. Maurer officiating. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery, Johnsburg.
