Marian Caroline Bigham, 85, of 428 Lashmett Ct., Rushville, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2007, at her home.
She was born on Wednesday, February 8, 1922 in New Orleans, LA. She was the daughter of the late George Delbert and Myra Park French. She married Robert W. "Bill" Bigham January 31, 1941 in Hawk Point, MO. He passed away May 1, 1978.
Surviving are (3) sons, Terrence Bigham & wife Lois of Macomb; Robert William Bigham & wife Merilea of Lake City, FL; and George Tom Bigham & wife Cyndi of Rushville; (2) daughters Barbara Rittenhouse & husband Benny of Rushville and Bette Workman of Gainesville, FL; (9) grandchildren; (16) great grandchildren; (2) great-great grandchildren; (2) step grandchildren; (3) step great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Janell French of Tulsa, OK; (3) nieces and (2) nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, (2) brothers, her twin George and William; (1) sister, Frances McKown and (1) grandson.
She attended Gulf Park College finishing school in Long Beach, MS in 1938 & 1939. She came to Rushville and graduated from Rushville High School in 1940. Marian was a cook at Hills Nursing Home and was a homemaker. She was a member and past president of American Legion Post #4 Auxiliary and a Gold Star sister.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2007 at the Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Arnold officiating. Inurnment will be in the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice, 331 S. Main St., Virginia, IL 62691.
