Age 94 of Danvers - Daughter of the late Reuben and Jennie (York) Rand. Wife of the late Floyd C. French.

She was also the mother of the late Robert French and sister of the late Lois Prince and Arthur Rand.

She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of the former Holten High School, class of 1940. She continued her education and was a graduate of the Salem Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1943.

Avis had been employed for 17 years as a Registered Nurse at Hunt Hospital, until retiring in 1985. She had previously worked at Salem Hospital.

A longtime resident of the Town of Danvers, Avis was a member of the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in Danvers, the Northshore Christian Women's Club, an alumni of Salem Hospital, a dedicated volunteer at Danvers Library for many years and a member of the Bridge Club.

Surviving Avis is one daughter Pamela Drury and her husband William of Peabody, one son Richard French and his wife Lorraine of Rochester, NH.

Also survived by 7 grandchildren, Susan Schieding, Corey Delp, Barbara Drury, Adam French, Mary Mather, Linda Welch and Bryan Drury.

Also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Ruth Blodjian of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews.
