Melba Evans Francis, 86, Neosho, died at 10:20 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2006, at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Francis was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Wheaton, Mo., the daughter of Jesse Lee and Emma Elizabeth (Lampkins) Evans. She graduated from Wheaton High School and had worked at Rocketdyne and then worked in the records department of Sale Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Neosho United Methodist Church.
Melba and Earl Francis were married on Aug. 31, 1941, at Wheaton. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2002.
She is survived by three daughters, Marsha Wicks, Beth Ritter and husband, Jim and Sherry Francis, all of Neosho; one brother, Tom Evans and wife, Leta, Neosho; a special niece, Joan Renick, Neosho; two special nephews, Gary Gray, Palm Springs, Calif., and Carl Dopp, Somersworth, N.H.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by six sisters; and one brother.
The body has been taken for cremation and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, at 1 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Rev. Gene Cole will officiate.
Contributions in memory of Melba may be made to the Patient Fund of Spring Hill Residential in care of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
