William R. Fox 80, died peacefully in his Harwich home on Thursday July 26. He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Barbara (Bevan) Fox.

Born and raised in Whitman he was the son of the late Stephen and Jennie (Lenoci) Fox and a graduate of Whitman High, Class of 1950.

Bill had been a proud veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Navy from 1950-1954 and earning a Purple Heart for his service.

After the Navy he went on to further his education, attending Wentworth Institute and Newark College of Engineering, and had spent the remainder of his career as an engineer.

Prior to his retirement and move to Harwich 15 years ago, Bill had been a lifelong resident of Whitman, and an Officer of the Auxiliary Police Department of Whitman for many years.

In addition to his wife Barbara he is survived by his sons James B. Fox of Harwich and William R. Fox, Jr. and his wife Cheri of Halifax, his brothers James and Paul Fox, and his sister Genevieve Joyce. He is also survived by his grandchildren Zachary Egan, James Fox, Sameera Abde, Brandon Thatcher-Fox, Autumn Thatcher-Fox, Mackenzie Fox and Heather Fox as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Karen and Stephen Fox.

A graveside service will be held Saturday August 4 at 9 AM in the Colebrook Cemetery, Essex Street Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Friday August 3 from 4-7 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman.
