Services for Claude Fowler Jr., 60, 406 S. Mesquite St., are scheduled to he held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Denton Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Samuel J. Elie of the Seventh Day Adventist Church is to officiate. Burial is set to follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. Fowler died Thursday at the local hospital.

Pallbearers include: Fred Smythe, Jack Hunt, Donald Boyd, Julius Doubrava, Bernard Pippia and Gilbert Pompa.

Fowler was born March 11, 1927, in Harco, Ill., where he graduated from high school. He also lived for a time in Harrisburg, Ill. He served in the army during World war II and married Vera Harrison in Arkansas on Dec. 5, 1951. The following year they moved to Carlsbad. He was a general foreman at Duval Potash Co. and was an avid sportsman, enjoying camping, hunting and fishing. He also was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Vera, Carlsbad; a son, David L. Fowler, Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Bruce W. "Claudette" Brindle, Alavarado, Texas,; a brother, Georgie Fowler, Benton, Ill.; two sisters, Joyce Sullivan, Chicago, Ill., Gladys Moore, West Frankfort, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
