Lavina Mae Bonsell, 79, of 609 N. 3rd St., Bellwood and formerly of Tyrone, died Monday, February 3, 1997 at her residence.
She was born Aug. 28, 1917 in Altoona, a daughter of Harry E. and Anna Pearl (Manges) Foust. On Feb. 25,1937, in Cumberland, MD, she married Clarence F. Bonsell. He died Oct. 20, 1990.
Surviving are three daughters: Carrie Mae Zimmerman, Anna Potts and Barbara K. Holes, all of Tyrone; two sons: Jack E., Port Matilda and George ]., RD 3, Tyrone. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and her long-time companion, with whom she resided, Ross Schmidt, Bellwood. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Matthew Johnson and three brothers.
She was of the Protestant faith and was an avid bingo player. She was employed at CJrier School, Birmingham, for 11 years as a baker and head cook. She then was head of housekeeping at the Autoport, State College for five years. Previously, she was employed at the former John R. Wald Company, Tyrone.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 6,1997 at 11 a.m. at the Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Thomas J. Fetterolt officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona. Friends will be received on Wednesday at the Feller Memorial Home from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial gifts in Mrs. Bonsell's memory may be made to the Citizens Fire Company, 123 W. 10th St., Tyrone, PA 16686.
