Mary's Story

CLIFTON - Clifton - Mary J. Bragg, 96, died peacefully on January 26, 2017, at her residence of the past 75 years. She was born March 16, 1920, in Mariaville, the daughter of Ralph M. and Mattie L. (Frost) Foster.
Mary graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1938. She married Robert J. Bragg, in 1940, and together they shared 43 years. Mary was a wonderful mother and homemaker and she overflowed with tremendous pride, joy and love for her family. Mary was an active member of the Clifton United Baptist Church, the Clifton Historical Society and several other organizations. She was one of the founding members of the Clifton Library. She was well known for her baking, always keeping her cookie jar full and providing food for community functions.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Robert; 10 siblings; and a son-in-law, David Kerns. Surviving are sons, Robert Bragg Jr. and wife, Judy, Ronald Bragg and wife, Beverly, Larry Bragg and wife, Bonnie; a daughter, Shirley Kerns; grandchildren, Peggy Bell, Becky Smart, Ron Bragg Jr., Randy Bragg, Amy Brooks, Tom Read, Debbie Kelley, Kim Negoro, David Kerns Jr. and Kristy Kerns; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Barbara Scott and Marlene Howard; a brother, Norman Foster; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Clifton United Baptist Church, 742 Airline Rd., Clifton, on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 2 p.m. Those who wish to remember Mary in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Hospice of Eastern Maine, care of EMHS Foundation, P.O.
