Susannah Clark Foster, youngest child of Robert and Elizabeth [née Clark] Foster, was born on the 17th of June 1810. Susannah's family were Scot-Irish Presbyterians, who had emigrated to America for religious freedom and the promise of land. Her grandfather was a veteran of the Revolutionary War, serving under General Andrew Pickens at the Battle of Cowpens; which was a turning point for The Americans in the South.

In 1830, Susannah married Moses Oliver McCaslan with whom they had seven children:
Ann Elizabeth (1831-1922)
Frances (1833-1858)
Margaret (1834-1835)
Robert Foster (1836-1907)
Mary Jane (1838-1863)
Aggie Susan (1840-1861)
Martha Clark (1842-1920)

Susannah Clark [née Foster] McCaslan departed this life well loved and respected on March 21st 1890. She was laid to rest in the McCaslan~Foster Family cemetery next to her beloved husband, who died 44 days earlier.
