Kate Scott Boyington, daughter of Robert Increase Boyington and Mary Katheryn McFarland, was born Mar, 21, 1880 in Pulaskiville, Ohio. She came to Oklahoma after her parents made the Cherokee Strip run and settled a claim near Carrier, OK. Her father was a Civil War Veteran and her mother was a nurse during the Civil War. Kate married Albert E. Ford May 28 1905 in the Congregational Church in Carrier, Oklahoma. Mrs. Ford was the first graduate of Carrier Academy in Carrier, OK., a member of the church choir, was a Sunday school teacher. She was active in the Carrier Home Demonstration Club and was the oldest member of the Sons and Daughters of the Cherokee Strip Pioneers. There were 4 children born to this marriage; Weldon Ford (1906-1978), Kathryn Ford Smith (1909-1994), Alberta Ford Ellis (1911-2005), and Wilbur Ford (1917-2006). Mr. Ford preceded her in death. He died Oct. 13, 1968 and was buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Carrier, Oklahoma. Kate died July 19, 1975 at a local hospital following a lengthy illness with burial next to her husband.
