William Daniel Foley, 74, of Columbia went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Memorial Baptist Church, 1634 Paris Road. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel, 1610 N. Garth Ave.

Bill was born June 27, 1938, to Oscar E. Foley and Aleta M. Anderton Foley at Brown Station. He spent most of his life in Mid-Missouri, except for a few years in California as a child. He is a 1956 graduate of Hickman High School. On Sept. 2, 1960, at Memorial Baptist Church in Columbia, he married Carol Ann Robertson.

Bill served his country in the Army National Guard as a surveyor from 1960 to 1966.

Bill was a residential builder and in the early 1960s established Foley and Sons Construction Co. He was involved in the development of several Columbia subdivisions. He also used his building skills and knowledge with many area churches.

Singing was the joy of this versatile boy as noted by his high school peers. Bill grew up singing with his siblings at First Church of God. He participated in several men's gospel quartets and various choirs at church and the university. He was still active in a church quartet at his death.

He loved to play softball and basketball. Bill played, formed and coached basketball teams in the city leagues until he was 65 years old. He was always on the hunt for outstanding players.

Another favorite pastime was fishing for trout and being outdoors. He spent many hours with his son, daughter and grandson Alan and friends fishing Bennett Springs, Taneycomo and Norfork.

Bill is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Carol of Columbia; son Eric and wife Kathy of Kansas City; daughter Vicki Bach and husband David; two grandsons, Alan and Ryan Foley of Kansas City; brothers Harold Foley of Ashland a nd Jim Foley and wife Charlotte of Columbia; a sister, Anita Adams and husband Glenn of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Paul and Leon.
