Julia was the second wife of Col. John Dalton Fly. They married 4 July 1848 in Sharon, Madison, MS & had seven children together.

Like many other Southerners, they saw the signs of the upcoming War Between the States, and chose to move westard where they hoped things would be more peaceful a bit longer. By 1860 they had moved to "greener pastures" - Texas!

Julia Fletcher Fly died in Texas at the young age of 40. Her burial place has not been found.
