MILFORD -- Arthur E. Floyd, 81, of Silver Hill Road, died Saturday, Oct. 13, in the Geriatric Authority of Milford.
He leaves his wife, Thelma G. (Garrepy) Floyd; a daughter, Nancy C. Magliocca of Dennis; a sister, Blanche Bradish of Worcester; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, Edward Floyd of Worcester, predeceased him. He was born in Leominster, son Charles and Clara (Valois) Floyd, and lived in Worcester, before moving to Milford in 1944. He graduated from the former Seaver Prep School in Worcester.
Mr. Floyd was a tool and die maker with the former Draper Corp. in Hopedale for 37 years, before retiring in 1981. He previously worked at his family's convenience store in Worcester. He was a member of St. Mary's Church. He was a historical commissioner in Milford, a member of the Historical Commission in Medway, and a Milford Town Meeting Member. He volunteered for the Hopedale school system in their musical program. He was also a member of the Hopedale Senior Chorus and performed at many are nursing homes.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 8:30 a.m. in the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 19 Winter St. Burial will follow in the Purchase Street Cemetery. Calling hours are 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marianist Mission, Mount St. John, 4435 East Patterson Road, Dayton, OH 45481-0001 or the Arthur E. Floyd Memorial Music Scholarship at Hopedale High School, c/o Sovereign Bank, 90 Prospect St., Milford, MA 01757.
